For the month of July, Soul Alphabet will be taking over The Bird every Wednesday for a weekly evening fundraiser featuring a diverse range of local talent providing artists the opportunity to perform, connect and inspire.
Soul Alphabet is a women of colour ran platform that empowers creatives of African heritage in Australia and Africa. Soul Alphabet's ambition is to become a multidisciplinary creative agency that empowers creatives of African heritage based in Australia and on the African continent.
This 4-week takeover is a fundraiser initiative to assist the platform to provide FREE DJ WORKSHOPS over a six to 12 month period for our bla(c)k and brown community. All the funds donated will be used to secure equipment for the workshops.
This type of initiative shows how Soul Alphabet are working towards a community culture that's built on collective learning. All DJ Workshops will be taught by local DJs and other creatives living in Western Australia.
Last week saw the first event at The Bird with performances from Princess Khanya, Burna, Yikes and Fizzi.
This week's night will have performances from DJ Kata, Love Six, Sepsaay and Super Flog.
Entry is free with optional donations at the door.
The work by Soul Alphabet is important to our WA community and for the creative growth and expansion of artists from the our bla(c)k and brown community. The active work provide tangible opportunities and talent development for the community. Support this event!
