Inspired by the classic sounds of DJ Premier and Statik Selektah, Queensland-born Sirpreme first made waves via Melbourne's Hip Hop scene as a prominent DJ, moving amongst the city's talent. However, he wasn't content just spinning other people's songs.
When he wasn't DJing, Sirpreme was busy crafting his own tracks. Now ready to be shared with the world, his music is helping bring back the boom-bap sounds of the golden age of rap, and he mixes them with the smoothest voices in R&B, Hip Hop and Soul. It was while spending time producing in Atlanta that the concept for SOULSTICE emerged. He had the vision of a project featuring emerging vocalists from both the United States and Australia. Laced with soul-samples and syncopated drums, the 7 track EP features Buddy Ryan, KJDSOUL, Duka, HENNESSY, Dope Diana, & J. Alston. "SOULSTICE is the purest form of my creativeness. The beats make you feel at home and free. It's full of smooth jazz and soul-inspired production with heavy hitting punchlines and catchy hooks. I have amazing relationships with all of the artists featured, but they also inspire me daily to be better. I wanted to bring the purest form of hip hop back..." |
First Verse is the fitting first single from SOULSTICE, and is a taste of what you can expect. HENNESSY's bars will remind you why he's one of the rap underground's favourite talents, while Sirpreme's production will get you bopping your head so hard you'll feel like you're doing some strenuous exercise.
With only a handful of previous productions available and already maintaining a steady 16,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, the time is ripe for the passionate beat-maker to ascend to new heights. If you're missing the days when producers were making music they love, rather than chasing the next trend, then Sirpreme might just be your new favourite artist.
