Maundz Nobody's Business Tour - Perth Show

PictureLower Class Kings
Last Friday, Maundz kicked off the national tour for his third album Nobody’s Business with an energetic set at Babushka Leederville.

On supports was a great local line up of Intrusive Thoughts, Lower Class Kings, and Azmatik. Local DJ Bace Kadet, who has steadily been making a name for himself, started the night spinning some classic hip hop tunes and played intermittently between sets.

First set for the night came from relatively new crew Intrusive Thoughts, made up of Reams, Sumoe, Trad and Uncle Sam. Intrusive Thoughts who have been recently gaining a strong following in Perth, also released their debut album in September. The 3 MC’s and their DJ always perform a strong set with great response from the crowd. Catching the end of their set Friday night, the lads had the intimate crowd moving on the dance floor.

Lower Class Kings AKA Paulie P and Little Lee were next up set on stage. Paulie who is an established local producer also had his MPC handy for those special effects between songs. The duo have been performing as Lower Class Kings for some time now so their sets are tight and well rehearsed. Later in the set, another local MC, Nate Deezy, joined them for a quick special guest verse.

Azmatik was the third local act for the night and he was joined by MC Drasik and local producer Jack the Sloth. It’s always exciting to see billed acts joined by fellow friends / collaborators on stage as it always ups the vibe. Azmatik is another strong local performer who is comfortable on stage. This is evident through his ability to work the crowd and the stage, along with his crew performing with him. Azmatik and Drasik hyped the crowd before the Maundz set and set a playful tone for the rest of the evening.

Finally, without further ado, Maundz graced the stage, no fuss, no frills, just ready to rap. And straight into he went, with DJ Discourse on the ones and twos. Maundz is an energetic rapper and the crowd who congregated around the intimate stage at Babushkas lapped up this energy.

Though there to promote his latest album, Nobody’s Business, performing popular tracks Whiplash and Gross Marksmen. He also performed tracks from his sophomore album such as the Zero and Maundzilla, which saw the crowd getting wild. And it wouldn’t be a Perth hip hop show without a shout out to royalty of Perth hip hop, the Syllabolix crew, as well as Rob Shaker for producing a track. Maundz once again proves why he is a staple in Australian hip hop and one of the most well-received rappers over at Crate Cartel.

Nobody’s Business is available for purchase on iTunes and at Getmusic.
