HussyKat is a 24 year old Sydney based chiropractor who is making his way through the music scene. With already lots of followers on Spotify from not only Australia but in the US as well, his music career can only go up from here.
HussyKat’s style was different for me, as this was the first time I had heard any of his songs. The first thing I noticed with It’s Ok Not To Be Ok were some lines such as; “Now it’s really hard to find peace of mind”, it had an almost Middle Eastern feel to it. I think his Baghdad background and Egyptian influences come through in this song. It provides an interesting twist to the music.
His wordplay is really switched on in this song, his flow switches up and keeps it interesting. However, I think simple effects like down pitching or echo on his vocals would have assisted, just to keep the verses not so dry. Overall though a meaningful song, showing people that having flaws are okay or having problems is okay as it’s normal and everyone goes through this. Ironically he is normalising not being so “normal”.
Another song I really enjoyed of HussyKat’s is Feels Like I Won The Lotto. The trap beat is an interesting mix as I hear EDM sound in it as well. And the mixing and mastering seems like it was professionally done with this single. For example, his pitched down vocals during the chorus “Feels like I won the lotto like I won the lotto” was a smart touch to the song as it breaks the song up but also gives it that feel of a real hard trap club banger. If it were have been sung normally it wouldn’t have the same feel to it.

Like his other song It’s Ok Not To Be Ok, his wordplay is insane and his flow quickens a little in this track, which compliments the beat. I feel like this song would be very received by the masses due to its style, which is trending at the moment, and that his efforts could pay off. If Hussy Kat hasn’t done a music video clip for this song yet, I would recommend one, as it’s a song I could see being played on TV. Currently the track has over 168,000 plays on Spotify! And I would say it the song’s style has broad appeal and people of all ages, race and gender would be into this single.
Both of these tracks are available on all platforms it’s worth checking out and show some support.
