Congratulations Eloquor on the the release of your fourth LP, Lunch. How does it feel to be 10 years into the game?
Like a proud old fart. Nah just kidding but yeah I love making tracks so why the hell not. I built a recording booth at home so I just smash out tracks and work on beats most nights. Not many people can say they have 4 LPs under their belt, so I’m pleased with my efforts.
10 years is a long time, how have you evolved as an artist over the years?
I kind of started as a weird spiritual rapper trying to uplift the world, now I make whatever I feel like or rap about shit that’s bothering me at the time. Guess I’m not as preachy and righteous as before. Been working on my flows and punch lines a lot more too.
Your raps comment on the current state of affairs, what are recurring themes you have seen over the years?
Dumb humans being dumb arse humans. I hope we are evolving into some kind of more empathetic and conscious creature who invests their efforts into a greater good.
Lunch has features from fellow rapper Reason and other collaborators, what was the process making the album?
Reason is my homie. Such a legend. We went to Alice Springs earlier this year to run some hip hop workshops at the local youth centre. Was a blast. Dope kids.
As I have a studio at home I recorded most peeps at my joint which was chill. Didn't have to spend cash on studio time, which is a bonus. I always like collabing with enthusiastic go-getter type artists.
Where do you find inspiration from?
Everything from overflowing rubbish bins and trees growing out of concrete walls, to Salmon Bagels with pickled red onion and capers.
What’s next for Eloquor? Will you be touring the release?
Working on a project with young gun Plire One and Shem. We got a little crew happening. Got an EP in the works. Gonna be fricken large.
