If you been around the traps in Perth (Australia, not Scotland) then you've likely heard of YNGRACH or heard one of her sets! YNGRACH is a culture creator who is heavily involved in the local Perth scene working with many up-and-coming rappers, as well as making moves as a DJ/producer. Rappfox did a Q&A with YNGRACH to see what's up.
Hey YNGRACH, thanks for taking the time out for this interview.
Hey, what’s good - anytime!
How did you get into Trap and Hip Hop / Rap?
I have always been heavy into trap and rap music ever since I can remember, it's just something I have listened to and caught a vibe with but how I got into the live Hip-Hop scene was through one of my homies who invited me to DJ some shows with him and from then on I started picking up bookings and formed a roster of local Hip-Hop artists I DJ for.
You’ve built quite a name for yourself, supporting the likes of Coolio, Dizzy Wright & Flosstradamus. How did you get into DJing?
Ouuu pretty much when I started going to shows, I just got mesmerised by what the artists were doing on stage so I copped some decks and taught myself then conned my parents into paying for some lessons at LabSix to learn on club standard decks and the rest is history.
The Flosstradamus show was insane, mad love to Origin for that one!
You are also a producer, did you get into producing at the same time as DJing?
I have been DJing for 4 years and producing for 2 years.
Who are some of your musical influences, whether that be locally, nationally and internationally?
Kenny Beats and DJ Scheme are my go to artists to watch/listen to when I'm lacking on inspiration whether it's their music releases or Kenny's Cave series! Both making waves on the big stages. Any spare time I go deep into the depths of No Jumper!

6KMC is another thing you’re heavily involved with, what was the purpose behind the platform? And what have you got in the works that you can speak about?
Yeah hard, our aim is to give artists coming up in the 6K a platform to show their music as well as making content the hip-hop community wants to see and be involved in.
We have 2 series at the moment - UPNEXT AUS - which is a live session series where artists perform a track/freestyle and Word On The Street where we go to events and festivals asking the punters questions.
There is always things in the works but right now mainly we have been working with a few specific artists building them and becoming more than just a YouTube channel. New merchandise and episodes across our series and yeah more content so stay locked.
You DJ at club nights, festivals, work in promotion and produce music, you are very busy! What would you say is your favourite thing to do?
DJing! Being on stage is easily my favourite thing to do - turning a crowd on its head is way too much fun.
You’re heavily involved in the local scene, who are some up-and-coming artists you highly recommend?
6K notables include 506, Sowdy and Yung Buddah for real but keep a look out for Mono Campbell and Cam Deg! My mans Seup is currently not residing in Perth but will always be a legend of the 6!
What’s next for YNGRACH?
Right now we’re just finishing some music videos for my latest EP that are incoming real soon! New music with the gang for sure in due time and just yeah patiently waiting for the world to be safe enough again that everything can open and we can all get back to causing mayhem on stage!
Thank you for your time. Peace ✌️
Got chu, laters ~
