Melbourne's SKEM drops deeply personal track Minutes & Hours

Picture
Melbourne rapper SKEM has dropped another deeply personal track Minutes & Hours. Minutes & Hours is a swift follow up to No Hope Here which SKEM also dropped in 2020.

The sombre track hits in the chest as SKEM raps about death of a family member and the end of relationship at the same time, as well as feeling a lack of connection with his "so-called" friends. SKEM explicitly details dealing with these excruciating feelings, being up til the early hours of the morning, taking pills, not eating, as time slowly passes. And whilst he delves into fairly solemn topics, he is candid and real. This brutal honesty plus the song's themes is relatable to a lot of rap fans.

Produced by American producer Othello, who has worked with with the likes of Pop Smoke (RIP), Lil T Jay and PNB Rock, Minutes & Hours is a subtle, bleak beat that complements SKEM's despairing rhymes.

A music video shot and directed by Zac Harris was released alongside the track and is a simple but effective visual to the track.

SKEM has been on the Australian Hip Hop scene for a couple of years now and has built a loyal fanbase due to his ability to recount his life in a sympathetic and honest way. Recently SKEM has been consistently releasing music along similar sounds and themes.
