New Single Jimi In The Mazda From Melbourne's Flimsey Lohan

Picture
Jimi in the Mazda is the new single from Melbourne Hip-Hop/Rap Jazz fusion group Flimsey Lohan.  The single will be released on the 21st.

Jimi in the Mazda delivers Tarantino-esque synth lines atop dreamy vibraphone landscapes peppered over a formidable rhythm section;  laced with Flimsey’s signature flow.

Topics such as government surveillance, paranoia, social withdrawal and the societal demands of constant availability are delivered with nothing less than lyrical precision. The new single is heavily influenced by rappers such as Jehst and Danny Lover; dancing across a landscape inspired by the likes of BADBADNOTGOOD, Mulatu Astatke and 30/70.

With artwork by the group’s drummer, and engineering, production and mixing taken care of by the bass player, this release is a taste of the creative fuel this band is running on.

Flimsey Lohan finished off the end of last year by dropping an eight track mixtape and releasing a limited number of copies on cassette through Melbourne label 56k Records. The band have been quietly gathering a cult following over the past couple of years with performances across Melbourne.

With several singles up their sleeve the band is prepared to showcase their best work yet throughout the year with plans to match an upcoming single with some visuals from local film genius directedbyzac.

Follow the group on Facebook and Instagram, and keep your eye out for our interview soon!
