Dizzy Wright Still Movin' Independently

These days every artist wants to be independent. They don’t really mess with the major labels anymore. And there aren’t many artists that can say they are 100% independent, Las Vegas rapper Dizzy Wright can.

Original signing onto independent label Funk Volume in 2011 but now totally independent, though he is the CEO of Still Movin’, a clothing label and soon to be independent label, Dizzy Wright has had quite a journey in the hectic Hip Hop industry.

“It’s been a growing process and I’m ready to show the growth. Learning a lot about music industry, learning about self love and empowerment.”

And Wright is probably one of the best people to be heading up a company called Still Movin', because the 29-year-old rapper is always doing something. In the past 10 years, he has released 6 studio albums, 5 EPs and 10 mixtapes. Not to mention the countless tours.

Unlike the fast, streaming, music culture of today, Wright understands the journey, “Everything takes time and patience, you have to build solid teams and make smart plays.”

Wright is no stranger to building and creating, just in the past 9 months, he released the Don’t Tell Me It Can’t Be Done EP and the album Nobody Cares, Work Harder, which he is coming out to Australia to promote.
This will be the third time Dizzy has toured Australia, a country he enjoys performing in.

“I’m coming to connect with the fans... and make it real fun for them. Australian crowds are interacting and they’re involved. I feel everyone comes out to have a good time and they want to see a good Hip Hop show”.

Anyone who has followed Dizzy’s journey has witnessed the evolution, from jovial stoner to a more elevated and inspirational individual who is now also a vegan.

He is now “giving people music they feel they can be inspired by, they can use it as a tool for motivation. [I] install little gems people can keep with them and install in their every day life I guess”.

In an industry that isn’t built for the individual, it is difficult to stay independent. Dizzy is one of very few rappers these days who have stayed independent and also have had a long, in this day and age, and successful career.

His secret to success “staying true to yourself, moving at our own pace, educating yourself along the journey and leaving yourself room to grow, you can constantly get better, constantly rise.”

Catch Dizzy Wright with support from DJ Hoppa at Capitol Amplifier this Friday 26th April. Tickets available through Raptix.
